Asialink Business was delighted to support the launch of the Australia India Business Exchange 2021
6 April 2021: India’s economy is set to grow by 11.5% in 2021, making it one of the world’s fastest growing major economies and an increasingly attractive market for Australian exporters.
Asialink Business was delighted to host the Minister for Trade, Tourism and Investment, The Hon Dan Tehan MP, for the launch of the Australia India Business Exchange (AIBX) 2021, in Melbourne on 6 April, in partnership with Austrade.
AIBX is Australia’s flagship program to advance trade and investment with India.
In conversation with Asialink Group CEO, Penny Burtt, Minister Tehan encouraged businesses from both countries to take-up the opportunities presented by India’s economic transformation and foster new commercial partnerships for growth and prosperity.
“Australia and India already share common values, interests and histories and the Australia India Business Exchange will strengthen that friendship,” Minister Tehan said.
“AIBX will give business owners the confidence and capability to engage across our two markets,” he said.
This year, the AIBX is targeted towards high-growth sectors where Australian produce and expertise is well regarded, including premium food and agribusiness, infrastructure and mining equipment, technology and services.
The launch featured a panel discussion with expert industry speakers including:
- Cristina Talacko – owner and founder of SalDoce Fine Foods; Director, Export Council of Australia Board;
- Bruce Rodgerson – CEO, Rubicon Pty Ltd;
- Dhruv Deepak Saxena – Managing Director, Riverina Oils and Bio Energy.
Panellists shared their first-hand perspectives and experiences doing business with India. They discussed the ongoing challenges of building cultural intelligence and understanding – faced by both Australian operators in India, and Indian companies investing in Australia – and the need to carefully research and navigate India’s complex busines landscape.
The practical discussion canvassed the importance of "investing on the ground" – not only in terms of a physical presence, but also in human resources and skills and training.
