Congratulations to the 2019 Australia-Vietnam Young Leadership Dialogue Delegates

Asialink Business extends congratulations to the 22 young leaders who will represent Australia and Vietnam as delegates in the 2019 AVYLD later this year. The delegates were announced during a business reception supported by Asialink Business on 21 March in Melbourne.

“Vietnam's rapid economic growth, young and vibrant population, and transformation towards a market economy, make it a rapidly rising star in Southeast Asia and globally. In sectors like tech and innovation, agribusiness, education and more, there are diverse new opportunities for Australia and Vietnam to collaborate. Asialink Business is delighted to support the AVYLD and help foster the next generation of leaders of this dynamic relationship,” Mr Mukund Narayanamurti, CEO of Asialink Business, says.

For the first time, the Dialogue will be held in Vietnam on 26-30 May, 2019.

On the announcement of the 2019 delegates, HE Mr Craig Chittick, the Australian Ambassador to Vietnam, says:

"The Australian Government via the Australia- ASEAN Council is a proud supporter of the Dialogue. It was inspiring to have been part of the process to select the delegates for the 2019 Dialogue. There is no doubt that the selected delegates will help shape the future of Vietnam and Australia. I look forward to strengthening our bilateral relationship with Vietnam through this significant platform."

Mr Ngo Huong Nam, the Vietnamese Ambassador to Australia, says:

"I commend the co-founders and team at the Australia Vietnam Young Leadership Dialogue for creating a unique and powerful platform to deepen our strategic bilateral relationship. The alumni and 2019 delegates will indeed create the necessary impact on both our countries as we face shared challenges together."

The five-day dialogue aims to facilitate deeper cross-cultural understanding and collaboration through discussions and workshops with distinguished speakers and peers from Vietnam and Australia. This year, the dialogue centres around the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals under the overarching theme Beyond 2019: Creating Our Sustainable Future Together . Within this theme, delegates will have the opportunity to be provided with new perspectives that can shift mindsets and drive action towards achieving a brighter future for the countries and the world, with clear momentum.

"We have assembled an inspiring group of young leaders from agriculture, education, technology among other sectors - growing the AVYLD community of those who are committed to impact, leveraging the bilateral relationship. Vietnam will host the 2019 Dialogue for the first time. We are confident this opportunity will deepen linkages in many transformative ways," says Ms Thao Nguyen, Co-founder and Board Chair of AVYLD.

Throughout a rigorous selection process, AVYLD received over 2,000 expressions of interest, out of which 22 young leaders, 11 from each country, have been selected. This diverse group of delegates spans across various industries: arts, agriculture, technology, sports, business, education, and environment.
