Australia and Indonesia: Catalysing COVID-19 recovery

13 July 2021: The pandemic has underlined the imperative of close international cooperation, especially between neighbours. Australia and Indonesia now have a new platform to work together, in the context of rapidly responding to COVID-19 and driving inclusive growth.

Asialink Business is pleased to welcome a new business development program to drive increased bilateral investment and inclusive business opportunities between Australia and Indonesia.

Launched earlier in July by the Minister for Trade, Tourism and Investment, the Hon. Dan Tehan MP, and the Treasurer, the Hon. Josh Frydenberg MP, together with their Indonesian counterparts, during the inaugural Indonesia-Australia Economic, Trade and Investment Ministers’ meeting, the IA-CEPA ECP Katalis (Katalis) is a unique initiative to unlock economic partnerships between Australia and Indonesia.

With a five-year (2021-25) investment from both the Australian and Indonesian government, Katalis will focus on enhancing market access, supporting market integration between Australia and Indonesia, and building ‘skills for recovery.’

Established under the Indonesia-Australia Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement Economic Cooperation Program (IA-CEPA ECP), the $40 million dollar program will provide market insights, education, technical advice, policy reform and workplace skills exchange to support inclusive economic growth.

Asialink Business is a proud partner of Katalis and we look forward to supporting its work.
