Asialink Business announces new partnership with AustCham ASEAN

30 January 2023: Asialink Business is delighted to announce a partnership with the Australia-ASEAN Chamber of Commerce (AustCham ASEAN). At a pivotal time for Australia’s relationship with the region, the partnership will create new pathways for Australian businesses interested in exploring regional opportunities.

Southeast Asia is one of the fastest growing regions in the world. According to the Asian Development Bank, ASEAN’s GDP grew by 5.5% in 2022, ahead of Asia’s 5.2% and well above the global average of 2.9%. Southeast Asia’s middle class is expected to grow by 5% per year through 2030 – just behind India’s expected middle-class growth rate of 6-8.5%, but faster than China 3.5-4.5%. Australian businesses are looking to the fast growing Southeast Asian economies to explore new sources of growth and access opportunities in new and emerging sectors. Deepening engagement with Southeast Asia is also a key priority for the Australian Government as it leads the development of the Southeast Asia Economic Strategy to 2040 to strengthen Australia’s economic engagement with the region.

“AustCham ASEAN, as the preeminent body representing Australian business in ASEAN through its Foundation Members, which are all the Australian chambers and business councils located in Southeast Asia. We welcome this important partnership to ensure that Australian businesses have the opportunity to become ASEAN and Asia capable,” said AustCham ASEAN President, Peter Fanning from Jakarta.

Asialink Business CEO Leigh Howard said: “We equip organisations in all sectors to become Asia-ready by developing critical capabilities, insights, and connections to engage and negotiate the complexities of the region. The number of Australian businesses interested in Southeast Asia has grown significantly in recent years, so this partnership with AustCham ASEAN represents a natural extension of our work in what are increasingly important markets to Australia.”

“Asialink Business is grounded in extensive market research, practical training programs, research and advisory services and advocacy and events that enable businesses to forge ahead with confidence to enter and grow with Asia”, continued Deborah Biber, Chief Executive of AustCham ASEAN.

AustCham ASEAN was founded in 2017 to act as a bridge to the robust communities of Australian businesses and Australians in Business throughout the Association of South East Asian Nations (ASEAN). Its membership comprises all the Australian Chambers and Business Councils in Cambodia, Indonesia, Laos, Malaysia, Myanmar, Singapore, Thailand, The Philippines, and Vietnam.
